NBA legend Kobe Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash, and many have expressed their condolences all over, including President Donald Trump himself. Trump was unsurprisingly under fire on social media for supposedly copying and rewriting his predecessor Barack Obama’s tweet about the late NBA star.
Politicalflare reports that hours after the news of Bryant’s passing, Trump took to Twitter and initially tweeted, “Reports are that basketball great Kobe Bryant and three others have been killed in a helicopter crash in California. That is terrible news!”
Obama later tweeted a lengthier message, expressing his condolences to Bryant’s family and loved ones that he has left behind. He tweeted, “Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day.”
This seemed to prompt the President to follow suit, but not in the way he was expected to by many. As the tweets that followed regarding Bryant’s untimely passing seemed to be a copy-paste situation of Obama’s message to the Bryant family. People on social media were quick to notice the similarities and have criticized Trump for his lack of an original message as well as mocked him for it as well.
Trump is currently facing an impeachment trial in the Senate for charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. As the democrats laid out their opening arguments last week, his defense will currently present their argument to try and debunk all the charges presented against Trump by the House. CNN reports that former national security adviser John Bolton’s unpublished manuscript revealed more about the Ukraine incident and may prompt some Republican senators to finally call for witnesses to testify against Trump.
Bolton revealed in his manuscript that Trump told him that he would want to continue withholding the military aid to Ukraine unless the authorities there would announce investigations into Trump’s political rivals, most especially his current Democratic rival, former vice-president Joe Biden.
