Ambati Rayudu was born on 23rd September 1985 at Guntur town in Andhra Pradesh state. Rayudu’s father Sambasiva Rao worked at the archives department of the state government. His mother Vijayalakshmi is a homemaker. He has a couple of cousins siblings and currently, his family resides in the Hyderabad City of Telangana.

Ambati Rayudu Early Days
Ambati Rayudu represented his school team at the U-15 and U-16 levels. He practiced with the youth teams players in the 1990s and developed his game to feature in the U-19 level. Rayudu was picked in India’s squad for the ACC Under-15 Trophy 2000 where he emerged as the leading run-scorer of the tournament and bagged the Man of the Match award in the final against the arch-rivals Pakistan.
Rayudu’s victorious run at the ACC Trophy caught the eyes of Hyderabad state teams selectors who called him to represent the senior team in 2002 when he was at the age of just 16. Rayudu smashed 698 runs with an average of 69.80 in his golden span and became the youngest cricketer to smash a double century and a century in the same match against Andhra Pradesh.
Rayudu was then picked for the India A’s tour to England and West Indies where he had a successful stint and was nearing his international debut. However, he came back to India and played for India Seniors at the NKV Salve Challengers Trophy where he failed miserably and his problem of facing the short ball was discovered that worried the selectors.
Rayudu did not look back and performed consistently for the Hyderabad team. He scored 666 runs at the Ranji Trophy 2012-13 and averaged 81 at India A tour to England in 2013. The ICL Fiasco
The introduction of the Indian Cricket League haunted Rayudu’s glowing career in 2007. The Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) had announced that the players taking part in the ICL will be banned from playing domestic cricket. Despite the official statement, Rayudu along with six other Indian cricketers joined the league.
Rayudu was set to play at the ICL in 2009 and before that the BCCI made an offer to the cricketers to join the domestic cricket again. Rayudu saw the uprising IPL and his future in the Indian team and finally bid adieu to the ICL and joined the Hyderabad cricket team. He was later picked by the Mumbai Indians franchise at the IPL.
Ambati Rayudu International Career
Rayudu made his international debut in a second-string Indian team against Zimbabwe in July 2013. He scored an unbeaten knock of 63 runs alongside Virat Kohli and ensured that India clean sweep the series. He was then a continuous part of the Indian team but was chosen as a reserve batsman for the home series against Australia, South Africa, West Indies, and Asia Cup 2013 where he featured in only a couple of matches.
Rayudu was provided with an opportunity to perform against England and Australia in the tri-nation series where he averaged above 20. Following a good run, Rayudu was picked in India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. However, he did not feature in any of the games and later played against Zimbabwe in an overseas tour.
