Box Cricket League – Cricket is one such game that has witnessed different formats played in India. Right from the celebrity cricket league to IPL, one can have choices to watch and enjoy. If you have been cricket with your friends, then box cricket is the format you must have played. Box cricket is an interesting format where the rules include the batsman cannot hit beyond a certain line to avoid giving up the wicket. This is why Box Cricket League was introduced and is now in its season 4.

But before we get into this league, let us first understand a bit about box cricket league. One team consists of 6 to 8 players including a replacement. In amateur situations, unlike traditional cricket, finding a full playing XI for both teams might be challenging.

  • In mixed-gender matches, the fielding team should have no more than 6 male and 2 female players on the field at any given moment.
  • Each match will last three to twelve overs.
  • Only around a quarter of the entire match over count can be bowled by each bowler (1 in case of 3 over a match and 3 in case of 12 over match)

Despite these fundamental similarities, box cricket differs from traditional cricket in a number of areas, most notably on the playing field and the methods used to score runs.

Here are the general rules of the Box Cricket League

  • Only if the batsman bats with at least one leg within the batting crease before the ball are delivered his runs is valid.
  • By hitting the 8-run board on the field, the batting team can score eight runs.
  • When a ball is struck straight against the ceiling, it becomes instantly dead. There will be no runs awarded and no dismissals. There will be no more bowling of the ball.

  • Depending on the number of female players on the squad, underarm bowling is required.
  • Otherwise, the ball will be deemed no-ball if it is pitched beyond the no-ball line.
  • The bowler must keep the ball within the bowling crease.
  • Any departure from the aforementioned criteria will result in a “No Ball” situation.
  • Usual There will be no ball, wide ball, byes, and overthrows.

The Box Cricket League (BCL) is an Indian reality television show in which celebrities compete against one another in an indoor cricket competition.

The popularity of the Celebrity Cricket League, a T10 event featuring franchises in key Indian cities, inspired the BCL. Marinating Films created the series as a one-of-a-kind confluence of sports, personalities, and entertainment. The first season had eight teams fighting against one another. Two more teams were introduced for the second season. The tagline of this league is “Iss Khel Mein Kayi Khel Khele Jayenge”

BCL 2014, a first of its type, is an Indian television sports reality program in which 150 celebrities compete to win the world’s greatest cricket tournament. The BCL, which has eight teams, is a mix of personalities, entertainment, and cricket. The notion of television personalities owning and playing for their individual clubs is what makes the Box Cricket League so intriguing. Chandigarh Cubs, Delhi Dragons, Rowdy Bangalore, Mumbai Warriors, Kolkata Baabu Moshayes, Jaipur Raj Joshiley, Pune Anmol Ratan, and Ahmedabad Express are the eight teams competing.

Box Cricket League Season 1

Chandigarh Cubs, Rowdy Bangalore, Delhi Dragons, Kolkata Baabu Moshayes, Mumbai Tigers, Jaipur Raj Joshiley, Pune Anmol Ratan, and Ahmedabad Express competed in the first season in 2014. The Delhi Dragons have been crowned as BCL champions for the first time.

In 2016, the second season aired. The BCL has introduced two new cricket teams, the Chennai Swaggers, and the Lucknow Nawabs. In Season 2, the Delhi Dragons won the BCL for the second time in a straight, making them the two-time winners.

Box Cricket League Season 3

On February 25, 2018, the third season premiered. [13] The Lucknow Nawabs won Season 3 by defeating the Delhi Dragons, the two-time champions.

Box Cricket League Season 4

On April 29, 2019, the fourth season premiered. MTV India did the telecast of the fourth season. The commentator for BCL 4 was RJ Sidhu.
