Djokovic & Nadal Enters home Semis Eyeing for the Title

Tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal entered the semi-finals of the Serbian Open and Barcelona Open respectively. Djokovic and Nadal are the top seeds at their respective events on home soil and they were accompanied with easy wins to enter the penultimate stage of the tournament.

On Friday, Djokovic outperformed his opponent Miomir Kecmanovic by winning two straight sets by 6-1 and 6-3. Djokovic took just an hour and fifteen minutes to book his spot in the Belgrade Semifinal. Djokovic had shown his masterpiece in the match by winning eight of the first nine games and not getting broken until the final service of the match where he held a double-break advantage.

The 21-year old Kecmanovic was under tremendous pressure as the World No. 1 won 63 percent of his first-serve return points. He finished the game in his own style by quickly shifting from off defense to offense and closing with a volley into the open court.

Djokovic will meet the winner of the quarterfinal between Gianluca Mager and Aslan Karatsev in the Semifinal. Djokovic defeated Karatsev in the Australia Open Semifinal last year. Earlier today, second seed Matteo Berrettini defeated fifth seed home favorite Filip Krajijovic by 6-4, 6-4.

Heading to Barcelona, third seed Nadal defeated Cam Norrie by 6-1 and 6-4 to secure a spot in the Semifinal. The 11-time victorious Nadal was more than satisfied with the results and was seen on the practice courts afterward.

The second set was more than thrilling as Nadal let Norrie come back into the game with 4-3 on the table. This was due to his forehand unforced error. However, Nadal quickly recovered and won the game with 6-4, thus winning the match.

At the ATP 500 Event, second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas set a Semifinal showdown with Jannick Sinner. Tsitsipas defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinal by 6-3, 6-3.
