Euro 2020: Denmark crush Wales as Italy beats Austria to storm into quarters

Denmark crushed Wales by 4-0 in the first match of the knockouts at the Round of 16 in the UEFA Euro Cup 2020. Denmark was the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals after beating Wales. On the other side, in form Italy defeated Austria to ensure their qualification. Italy was successful in beating Austria by 2-1 at the full time.

Denmark rode to an impressive victory, thanks to a double goal starter by Center-Forward K. Dolberg. Dolberg was successful was scoring 2 goals in the first 50 minutes of the match to take a 2-0 lead. Dolberg scored in the 28th and 48th minutes of the match. Dolberg was joined by Maehle, and Braithwaite who scored in the 88th and 90+4th minute of the match.

Wales was denied a goal in the 90th minute of the match off H. Wilson who was awarded a red card.


Italy and Austria faced a long Round of 16 matches as the match entered in Extra Time after no team was successful in scoring a goal in the first 90 minutes. Italy opened the account of goals in the match after F. Chiesa scored a goal in the 95th minute of the match. Pessina joined Chiesa and took Italy to a 2-0 lead in the 105th minute.

For Austria, S. Kalajdzic scored a goal in the 114th minute of the match which was not sufficient to beat Italy. Italy won by 2-1 at the full time.

In one of the fiercest encounters of the knockout, Portugal will face Belgium tonight. The encounter between the World No. 1 and Defending Champions will be interesting to watch. The dominant Netherlands will face the Czech Republic in the other match tonight.
