FIH Pro League: India to face New Zealand in their opening Clash


The Indian Men’s Hockey Team is set to face New Zealand in its first game of the FIH Pro League, 2021-22. The third edition of the FIH Pro League is all set to start from 16th October 2021. Belgium and Germany are going to face each other in a heated battle of the opener. The World Governing Body of Hockey earlier released the complete schedule of the tournament.

India will also face Australia and Spain after facing New Zealand in their away games. India will take on Australia on February 12 and 13 and then travel to Spain for a much-awaited clash on February 26 and 27. After a long tour, India will finally play at home against Germany on March 12 -13 and Argentina on 19th and 20th March 2022.

After March, India will face England at home in April. The match against England is scheduled for 2nd and 3rd April. In June, India will then have two away games against Belgium and Netherlands June. The battle against the top teams will take place on 11-12 June and 18-19 June respectively. The 2022 season for the Indian men’s hockey team will truly be packed and exhausting.


The men’s hockey team is currently in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics. After the first half of the year, preparations for the FIH Pro League will begin. The Indian men’s hockey team coach believes that Australia and New Zealand are tough teams to compete against and the team will practice hard to defeat them and start on a winning note.

The second season of the Pro League, 2020-21  is currently in progress. India will play against Spain and Germany in their remaining fixtures later this month.
