Get your postures right…It’s Cricket Time

Now that the Test series between India and Australia has been done and dusted, the point of attention is the upcoming series between India and England. Team India is loaded with confidence after the commendable win against Australia, beating them in their own backyard, even after the faced injuries. This win has placed India in the top position of the World Test Championship standings. New Zealand is in the second position. The fans are eagerly waiting for the match against England and would be expecting the same performance from team India who would be hosting the series. England would be visiting for four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs.

India’s Performance Review: The world has witnessed one of the best performances of team India in an overseas Test tour in the last 20-25 years when they competed with Australia in Gabba. This is considered a better performance displayed when we defeated Australia 2-1 is because team India was mentally exhausted in their first test match. From the second test match, they did not have their captain, and Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja had to be withdrawn due to injuries. It did not end here and Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hanuma Vihari had to be ruled out before the final test.

Ajinkya Rahane displayed supreme confidence and managed to show brilliant performance in limited resources. The contribution to winning the series came from almost everyone on the side. The teamwork that we witnessed was commendable and that led to winning the match. This tour also gave chance to show some great performances. We found a gem of an opener Shubman Gill. Mohammed Siraj who came as a replacement was then leading wicket-taker for India. Rishabh Pant, what an iconic performance in batting. His batting has been the best among all batsmen. Jasprit Bumrah, in the absence of Shami, Ishant and Umesh, played like a boss. Ravichandran Ashwin, the best spinner of the series. These performances were a proud moment and they literally owned the winning.

England’s Performance Review: Team England had been no less in their performance in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. Joe Root was the center of attraction because of his gameplay. Kumara Sangakkara himself praised Joe’s performance and called it a great learning experience for everyone. A double century in the series opener and hitting 186 in the second Test was outstanding. Root and Jos Buttler contributed a 97-run stand. Sangakkara added that it was a great education for all of them.

The first and second winnings have been won by England. The third and fourth innings are yet to be played. We might witness more outstanding performances and can analyze the gameplay of England against India.

IND vs ENG Review: India competed with England in international cricket in 1932 in which England won the match by 158 runs. India successfully secured their first Test win against England in 1952. Team India has played 122 test cricket with England. From those, India won 26 matches, lost 47 and there were 49 draw matches. In One Day International matches with England, out of a total of 100 matches, India won 53 matches and lost 42. Two matches were tied and 3 ended with no result.

India and England’s World Cup rivalry started from the first Cricket World Cup in 1975. This match was won by England. In the next match on 22 June 1983 at Manchester, India won by 6 wickets.

Winning Probability: England is still playing the series against Sri Lanka which might affect the prediction later. However, as of now, India is on top of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings and they need to win the upcoming home four-match Test series against England to secure a spot in the WTC final. Former England captain Nasser Hussain has mentioned in his statement that they can beat Sri Lanka but India will be a different kettle of fish. There have been multiple statements after India’s win against Australia that they would need to be in full form with bug runs if they have to beat India. Nasser Hussain mentioned that Root has the capability.

India’s winning of the Border-Gavaskar trophy has boosted their chance of winning the upcoming match and making it to the finals. It is crucial to winning by at least two match margins and three in case of a loss. A 0-3 or 0-4 loss against England will wipe away their chances of making it to the finals no matter what the other results are. The fans are expecting the same performance as in Gabba from team India.
