Harleen Deol Early Days
Harleen has been fond of cricket right from her childhood days. She used to play gully cricket with the boys in her locality and faced stiff resistance from the neighborhood. However, her mother supported her and felt privileged that her daughter is pursuing a sport.
Harleen’s breakthrough came when she gave her first trial for the Chandigarh team. Harleen there met her first coach RP Singh, a former Indian Left-Arm pacer. Singh told Harleen to shift to Mohali as she was selected for the state team.
Harleen Deol Domestic Career
Harleen began to play for the Punjab Cricket team. She was initially chosen as a bowling all-rounder and batted down the order. However, her transitional phase came when she had a versatile knock-down order. In a match against Hyderabad, Punjab lost four wickets in quick succession and Harleen came down the order and scored a magnificent century.
Harleen was highly praised for her knock by the coach and the support staff. She was then sent to open the innings in her next match where she scored 49 runs in a losing cause but her innings were highly appreciated by the critics. Harleen played for the Punjab team from the age of 10 and then got relocated to Himachal Pradesh following her father’s transfer.
From 2011, Harleen started to play for Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. Women’s T-20 Challenge
Owing to her fabulous run at the domestic circuit, Harleen got selected for the Trailblazers team under Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana. Playing for Trailblazers, Harleen got the biggest breakthrough of her life as she got noticed by the critics for her determinant batting.
During the second edition of the Women’s T-20 Challenge, Harleen registered a clinical partnership of 119 runs alongside Smriti Mandhana. She was highly praised for her innings and this was the start of something very big for the young talent.

Harleen’s pivotal performance for Trailblazers set the stage for her Indian debut which she considers as the most prestigious moment of her life. Harleen made her debut against the England team in a One-Day International match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 22nd February 2019 becoming only the second player from Chandigarh to represent India.
Harleen failed to captivate with her ODI opportunity. She fell for only two runs and wasn’t able to pick any wicket. Subsequently, she was dropped from the ODI team but got able to be placed in the T-20 team. Harleen made her T-20 debut against England following the ODI series on 4th March 2019 at the Lucknow stadium.
Contrary to the ODI performance, Harleen had a convincing performance in the T-20 format. She picked a couple of wickets on her debut and scored handy runs. After the England series, Harleen was chosen to be probable for the 2020 T-20 World Cup. In October, Harleen was named to India’s squad for the T-20 World Cup 2020.
Harleen had a good T-20 campaign and continues to be a regular part of the Indian Women’s T-20 team owing to his exemplary performance. Harleen has played 12 International T-20 matches for the Indian Women’s cricket team where she has scored 133 runs with an average nearing 20 and claimed 6 wickets for an average of 23.
