The Tokyo Olympics is around the corner and the teams have started with intense preparations. The Indian contingent will leave for Tokyo at the end of the first week in July. The Field Hockey Competition at the Tokyo Olympics will take place from 24th July to 6th August 2021. Twenty-four teams (12 from men and 12 from women) are going to participate and fight for a gold medal for their country.

The Twelve teams in the Men’s and Women’s contingent will be divided into two groups of six teams each. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals and the bottom two teams will be eliminated from the competition. The knockout stage of the tournament will begin with the quarterfinals that are scheduled to start from 1st August 2021. Here is the schedule of matches at the Tokyo Olympics:

Group Stage: 24th July, 2021 to 31st July, 2021


Quarterfinals: 1st August, 2021 (Men’s), 2nd August, 2021 (Women’s)

Semifinals: 3rd August, 2021 (Men’s), 4th August, 2021 (Women’s)

Finals: 5th August, 2021 (Men’s), 6th August, 2021 (Women’s)

Venue: Oi Seaside Park, Tokyo, Japan.

Group A: Argentina, Australia, India, Japan, New Zealand, Spain

Group B: Belgium, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, South Africa

Women’s Hockey 

Group A: Germany, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Netherlands, South Africa 

Group B: Argentina, Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, Spain
