How will India manage without Ashwin and Jadeja?


It has always been a twisty curve between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin when India travel away from the subcontinent. It has been seen in the past that at one time Jadeja got chosen ahead of Ashwin in West Indies and the final match in Australia, whereas for the first India vs New Zealand Test match in Wellington, the management decided to go in with Ashwin. Due to the ongoing injuries, it is awaited decision who will be playing further.

Ravindra Jadeja experienced a broken thumb injury which ruled him out of the fourth and final Test against Australia starting in Brisbane on January 15. Does this mean that Ravichandran Ashwin would be replacing Jadeja? Many people have claimed that there should not be a question if Ashwin would replace Jadeja as he s a world-class bowler. However, he has not been much into foreign matches which lacks his chance to be judged on the overseas performances.

Later, Ravichandran Ashwin was ruled out as he suffered a back strain during his fantastic innings in the Sydney Test. It was already a discussion regarding his chance to play further and his injury gave a pause to it.


Former leg-spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan shared his opinion that it seems like there is a dearth of up-and-coming spinners in India. He believes that besides the current crop of spinners, there are not many who can carry the legacy of Indian spin bowling forward. Siva feels that as there is a lack of spin bowlers on the team, appointment of a spin bowling coach in India is the need of the hour.

The big question arises that how will team India manage without their extremely talented players Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. The fans are pointing out that the Indian team management team decided to give chance to youngsters and nurture them to play for future as well. The new spin pair of team India, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are covering up the decline. The difference is that Ashwin and Jadeja are finger spinners, while Chahal and Kuldeep are wrist spinners. The performances of both of these players have been tremendous in the past few matches. Team India is gearing with every ability they have to put their best in the coming matches.

As mentioned by batting coach Rathoure in an interview that the team has a huge potential and ability to retain their strength. They have done a lot of practice. Yes, it would be a tough time for the team to play without some of the great players they have, however, the upcoming talent have proved their stand and fans have a big hope.
