Tokyo Olympics 2021: India to kickstart with its events at Olympics tomorrow

India will get into action at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 from Day 0 itself. Archery is the only event that will feature Indians before the opening ceremony. For the ceremony, India has named men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh and the six-time world champion woman boxer MC Mary Kom as the flag bearers.

Indian archers both men and women will be playing individual ranking rounds tomorrow. The performances in the ranking round will determine the seeds for the mixed team event, regular team events, as well as individual events.

The only Indian woman to qualify for the Women’s Individual Ranking round is Deepika Kumari while there are three men who qualified for the Men’s Individual Ranking round – Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai, and Praveen Jadhav.

Deepika Kumari is at her best form right now and will be entering into the Olympics 2021 as world number 1 in women’s recurve individual. Deepika recently won 3 gold medals in a single day during the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Paris. Deepika has already competed in two editions of the Olympics prior to this and will be trying her best to bag the medals for India in the quadrennial event.

Talking about the Indian men, Atanu Das and Tarundeep Rai have experience of competing at Olympics before but Praveen Jadhav will be making his debut in the Olympics games.

If the men qualify tomorrow then there will be a chance to team up with Deepika Kumari in the mixed team events.

Men’s Individual Ranking – Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai, and Praveen Jadhav – 9:30 AM IST
