India vs England: BCCI names the Indian Women Squad ahead of India’s Tour of England

BCCI has announced the Indian women squad for the upcoming tour of England. India will be playing 1 test match, 3 ODIs and as many T20I matches against England in June. Mithali Raj has been named the captain for the test and ODIs, and Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the T20I squad.

The 17-year-old opener Shafali Verma got her maiden test and ODI callup. Shikha Pandey, the senior pacer who was dropped from the squad against the South African Women this year, has been called back. Taniya Bhatia and Indrani Roy are the two wicketkeeper-batters for the tour. Leg spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad misses out due to injury.

This will be India’s first overseas tour under the newly appointed coach Ramesh Power. The former Indian off-spinner replaced WV Raman in the position. The tour will begin with a one-off test match at the Bristol County Ground on June 16th. The test match will be followed by 3 ODIs.

Mithali Raj (c), Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur (vc), Punam Raut, Priya Punia, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Indrani Roy (wk), Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht, Radha Yadav.

The ODIs will be followed by 3 T20I matches, which will then conclude the tour on July 15th in Chelmsford.

Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia (wk), Indrani Roy (wk), Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht, Radha Yadav, Simaran Dil Bahadur.

India women vs England Women – Schedule

A test match scheduled between June 16th-19th at the Bristol County Ground.

It will be followed by 3 ODIs;

  • 1st ODI on 27th June at the Bristol County Ground.
  • 2nd ODI on 30th June at The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
  • 3rd ODI on 3rd July at the New Road, Worcester.

The ODIs will be followed by 3 T20I matches;

  • 1st T20I on 9th July at The County Ground, Northampton.
  • 2nd T20I on 11th July at The Central County Ground, Hove.
  • 3rd T20I on 15th July at The Cloudfm County Ground, Chelmsford.
