India defeated Sri Lanka in the second One-Day International to wrap up the 3-match ODI Series. The series win against Sri Lanka is historically significant as the senior team is in England for the Test Series and a young Indian side was sent to Sri Lanka under the guidance of former Indian Batsman and Wicket Keeper Rahul Dravid.

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bat first at the RPS Stadium in Colombo. Openers A. Fernando and M. Bhanuka set up a good opening stand and scored 50 and 36 runs respectively. The middle-order helped the top order and crucial knocks from Dhananjay De Silva (32),  C. Asalanka (65) and Chamitha Karunaratne (44) helped Sri Lanka set a competitive total of 275.

For India, the pick of the bowlers was Yuzvendra Chahal who picked up 3 wickets for 50 runs. Vice-Captain Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled pretty well to claim his 3 wickets for 54 runs. Deepak Chahar was successful in claiming 2 wickets for 53 runs.

Chasing a challenging total of 275 in difficult conditions, India lost quick wickets at the top as Prithvi Shaw and Ishan Kishan were out after scoring 13 and 1 run respectively. Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav helped Indians to bounce back in the match after scoring 37 and 53 runs respectively. Krunal Pandya played a handy inning of 35 runs.

The highlight of the match was the 8th wicket partnership between Deepak Chahar and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar which helped India to win the second ODI. After the wickets of Pandya and Yadav, the target seemed impossible to chase until Deepak Chahar played an outstanding knock of 69 runs to take India through to a series win. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar contributed his 19 runs in a crucial 8th wicket stand of 84 runs.

For Sri Lanka, Waninadu Hasaranga was the best bowler who picked up 3 wickets for just 37 runs in his 10 overs. Rajitha, Sandakan, and Shanaka picked up a wicket apiece.
