Northern Districts

Kane Williamson was set to make his New Zealand domestic debut in 2007 and his first professional club was Northern Districts. At the age of 17, Williamson served to be one of the youngest first-class debutants in the country. Known for his loyalty, Williamson continues to represent the team in New Zealand domestic cricket to date.

Williamson had a mesmerizing domestic circuit for Northern Districts. His tremendous success at the ground leveled to his early selection in the national team. Kane Williamson joined the Orange Army of the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Indian Premier League in the 2015 season. Williamson played a crucial role in Hyderabad’s playoff qualification in the 2015 season. He was also a part of Hyderabad’s first title victory in 2016 where he played a valuable role in the Qualifiers and the Finals.

After his successful stint for Hyderabad in 2016, the franchise retained him for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In the 2018 season, Williamson led the team in absence of regular captain David Warner and was the leading run-scorer in IPL with 735 runs as Hyderabad finished as the runners-up.

Williamson led the young Indian side at the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2007. He subsequently made his national team debut on 10th August 2010 at an ODI fixture against India.
