Charlotte Hornets defeated the Boston Celtics in a much-needed win on a mega Sunday evening. The match at the Spectrum Centre went on to a deciding stage in the last Quarter. The Hornets managed to emerge victorious by a score of 125-104, giving the Celtics a major setback.
Hornets win was necessary for them to earn late surge wins to move up the table in the concluding stages.
Winning the Tip-Off, Hornets rode on a stupendous score in the first two quarters. The top scorer for Hornets was D. Graham who scored 24 points in 33 minutes along with 9 assists. M Bridges managed to score 20 points, along with PJ Washington and T. Rozier scoring 22 and 21 points respectively. Martin and Wanamaker scored 13 points and 12 points each.
Celtics gave a strong fightback to the Hornets by crossing the 100 marks. The top scorers for the Celtics were Jaylen Brown and Walker who scored 20 points each. Tatum and Smart scored 19 and 17 points respectively. The Celtics were restricted by strong defense from the Hornets.
The Hornets stand 8th on the table in the Eastern Conference with 29 wins and 30 defeats. With this win, they win 30 games, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The Celtics stand 6th on the table with 32 wins and 28 losses. The Hornets are left with 12 games out of which they must win 10 to qualify.
On the Eastern Conference Table, Nets stand first with 40 wins along with 76ers, Bucks, and Knicks in the Top 4 with 39, 37, and 34 wins respectively. Jazz, Suns, Clippers, and Nuggets lead the Western Table.
The league stage of NBA season 2021 will end in the second week of May.
