Suryakumar Yadav Biography – Suryakumar Yadav is a professional Indian Cricketer who represents the national side in limited-overs fixtures and plays for the Mumbai Cricket Team in domestic cricket and Mumbai Indians at the IPL. Yadav is a versatile Right-Handed Top-order batsman who also bowls medium pace and spin on a few occasions.
Suryakumar Yadav made his debut for the Indian National Cricket Team against England at a T-20 International bilateral series on 14th March 2021.

Suryakumar Yadav was born to Ashok Yadav and Sapna Yadav on 14th September 1990 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. His father hailed from Uttar Pradesh and came to Mumbai as an electrical engineer at the BARC. Yadav started to practice professional cricket at a very young age of 12 in the home of cricket in India, Mumbai.
Surya’s father saw his inclination towards the game and registered him at a cricket academy at the BARC Colony in Anushakti Nagar. Since then, it was no looking back for India’s most talented batsman at the current times.

Suryakumar Yadav Early Days
Suryakumar Yadav started to pursue professional cricket at the very young age of 12. Suryakumar Yadav’s father was told about his potential by his first coach and he persuaded him to enroll in the batting sensation at a professional cricket academy. Suryakumar Yadav got into the Elf Vengsarkar Academy at the age of 12.
Yadav nurtured his cricketing skills under the able guidance of former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar. He further went on to play for the Mumbai Team in the U-14 trophy. His consistent helped him to prevail in the competitive game as he also represented the Mumbai U-16 team at the Vijay Merchant Trophy and the U-19 team at the Cooch Behar Trophy.
Suryakumar Yadav Domestic Career
Suryakumar Yadav made his List-A debut for his home team Mumbai at a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Gujarat. Yadav performed brilliantly and impressed the support staff and the selectors. Soon, Suryakumar Yadav was also inducted into the Mumbai squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T-20 Trophy. He made his T-20 debut against Hyderabad.
Owing to his magnificent performance in List-A, Suryakumar Yadav was called for his first-class debut against Delhi at the 2010 Ranji Trophy season. Yadav performed marvelously as he was appointed the Mumbai Captain in the following season. At the CK Nayudu U-23 Trophy, Yadav scored a massive 1000+ runs including a 200+ score against Odisha.
Suryakumar Yadav was called to represent the India A side in 2018. He played a match against Sri Lanka but failed to score a good run due to which he failed to get a comeback call.
Suryakumar Yadav IPL Career
Suryakumar Yadav had a magnificent domestic season in 2011-12. His scintillating performance helped him to grab the attention of the Mumbai Indians scout. Yadav was picked by the Mumbai Indians in 2012. On a packed Mumbai Indians side, Yadav failed to find his spot and spent a long time on the bench. He failed to deliver his potential and it was now time for a change.
Suryakumar Yadav switched his franchise and was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in 2014. Yadav did justice with the new franchise as he got enough opportunities to grab the headlines. Yadav scored quickfire runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise. Following his stellar run, Yadav was picked back by his home side Mumbai Indians in 2018.
The arrival of Yadav brought glory to the Mumbai camp as they won two successive IPL titles in 2019 and 2020. In the 2018 season, Suryakumar Yadav finished as the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians franchise. Suryakumar Yadav had a decorated 2020 season of IPL. Following his consistent performance in the domestic league, Yadav got a call from the National Team for the series against England. Yadav failed to get a place in the ODI side but made it to the T-20 side to make his international debut against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Yadav batted for the first time against England in the fourth match of the series. Yadav hit a six on the very first ball of the innings becoming the first Indian batsman to do so. He went on to score a half-century in that match. Following his versatile performance in T-20’s, Yadav was called for the ODI series against England but did not make it into the XI.
Yadav got his second call for India for the Sri Lankan series. It was his first overseas tour. Yadav made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on 18th July 2021. In the second ODI on 21st July, Yadav scored his maiden ODI fifty. Yadav was then called as a replacement for injured Mayank Agarwal for the Test series against England. However, he failed to get into the packed side.
In September 2021, Suryakumar Yadav was inducted into India’s squad for the ICC T-20 World Cup at the United Arabs Emirates.

Suryakumar Yadav married his college mate Devisha Shetty at a private ceremony in Mumbai on 29th May 2016. The duo studied at the same college in Mumbai namely R.A Poddar College of Commerce and Economics where they had first met. Devisha Shetty is a dance coach and belongs to an upper-middle-class South Indian based in Mumbai.
