Tokyo Olympics updates: Atanu Das 35th in the ranking rounds


With the conclusion of Men’s individual ranking round in the Tokyo Olympics, Indian men ranked 9th on the ranking table with a total score of 1961. Men archers, Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav represented India in this round.

India’s highest-ranked archer for the knockout round was Pravin Jadhav, ranked 31st with 656 points consisting of 22 10’s and 5 X’s. Atanu Das ranked 35th with 653 points consisting of 24 10’s and 6 X’s. Tarundeep Rai ranked 37th with 652 points that included 26 10’s and 6 X’s.

Pravin Jadhav who made his Olympics debut today, will be partnering with Deepika Kumari for the mixed team, with a total score of 1319 (Deepika 663 points, Pravin 656 points), the pair will be ranked 9th on the ranking table.


Despite Pravin Jadhav’s rank, there still is a possibility of Atanu-Deepika in the mixed team event. India can still take the call-to-call Atanu with Deepika as per World Archery rules. So, there is a chance alive to see the real-life partners team up and perform at the mixed team events at Tokyo 2021. The pair will be declared soon.

Towards the top of the table, rankings are the Republic of Korea ranked 1st, followed by Netherlands’ 2nd and China 3rd.

The Indian archers were disappointed with their performances as none of them could complete in the top 25 ranks. However, the Indian fans do not need to worry as this was only the ranking round, after the ranking round, the archers will be competing in pairs based on their ranks, for example, 1st vs the 64th, 2nd vs 63rd and so on.

Indian archers will also be competing in the mixed team events tomorrow at the Tokyo Olympics 2021.
