Over the years, the IPL auction has grown intense as the franchisees battle for their favorite pick. Here is the list of Top 10 most expensive players in IPL:

Stokes has played for the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise before being picked by the Rajasthan Royals. In the IPL Auction of 2018, Stokes was picked by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping amount of Rs. 12.5 Crore and he remains the 10th most expensive player in IPL.

Yuvraj has played for several franchises at IPL that include Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB bought Yuvraj Singh for Rs. 14 Crore in the 2014 auction as Yuvi remained the 9th most expensive player in IPL history.

Owing to his exceptional international performance, Richardson was picked by the Kings XI Punjab franchise at a huge amount of 14 crores at the Vivo IPL auction of 2021. Richardson however did not deliver for Punjab as he pulled out of the second leg due to an injury.

He was first picked by Mumbai Indians for 5 crores and then by Kings XI Punjab for 10 crores. At the cash-rich 2021 Vivo IPL Auction, Maxwell was picked by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise at Rs. 14.25 crores to be the 7th most expensive player in IPL.

Ben Stokes was picked by the Rising Pune Supergiants franchise for an amount of Rs. 14.5 crore at the 2017 auction. Stokes is also the 6th most expensive player in IPL. He performed brilliantly for the RPS as the franchise were the runners-up in the 2017 season.

Kolkata Knight Riders succeeded in getting their captain at a whopping price of Rs. 14.9 crore in the 2011 auction. Gambhir is the 5th most expensive player at IPL and he led the KKR franchise to a couple of IPL Triumphs in 2012 and 2014.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise bought Jamieson for a whopping price of Rs. 15 crores as he became the 4th most expensive player at IPL. Jamieson performed brilliantly for the RCB.

At the Vivo IPL Auction in 2020, Pat Cummins was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise for an amount of Rs. 15.50 Crore. This made Cummins the 3rd most expensive player at IPL and he was also the most expensive buy by any franchise at the Dream 11 IPL 2020.

After being released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise before the 2015 IPL Auction, Delhi Daredevils bid the highest quote for Yuvraj Singh that was Rs. 16 Crore. This made Yuvraj the 2nd most expensive player at IPL. Yuvraj Singh however failed to deliver for the Delhi Daredevils franchise and was later picked by Mumbai Indians.

The Vivo IPL Auction 2021 was the most fiercely conducted in IPL History. Five players were bought for more than 10 Crores. The highlight of the auction was Chris Morris. Chris Morris became the most expensive player at IPL after he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals franchise for a whopping Rs. 16.5 Crore.

Morris is a South-African bowling all-rounder and has been a valuable player for many franchisees. He was earlier picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 12 crores in the 2020 auction.
