Uttar Pradesh Turmoil: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has rushed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence after political turmoil grew in Uttar Pradesh over the handling of the Covid-19 situation and reports of friction in the BJP State Unit. CM Yogi has denied the facts and claimed that the Covid situation in Uttar Pradesh is under control and there is no friction in the State Unit of the ruling party.
Yogi Adityanath had met Home Minister Amit Shah late last evening. The UP CM is on an official two-day visit to the National Capital and will meet the BJP National Stalwarts and discuss a strategy for the upcoming elections. Yogi will also meet Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Working President Jagan Prakash Nadda.
The meeting between CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi is speculated to be for a Cabinet Expansion in the State ahead of the Legislative Assembly Elections that are scheduled to take place next year. Uttar Pradesh is a politically crucial state for BJP and the party will include ministers from the minorities to increase their vote bank.
Earlier, news came in contrast that CM Adityanath has failed to handle the Covid-19 crisis in Uttar Pradesh ineffectively. Reports claimed that there was a lack of coordination between the CM and the Party Office Bearers in tackling of Covid-19 scare. BJP Working Committee then sent two National leaders to take stock of the situation.
Amidst friction in State Unit, BL Santosh and Radha Mohan Singh visited Uttar Pradesh and took hold of the situation. After the completion of their visit, they praised CM Yogi Adityanath for handling the Covid situation effectively and reported no friction in State Unit. BJP currently has a majority government in Uttar Pradesh with a massive 309 legislators.
